Thank you for visiting Gettysburg College’s Majestic Theater: A Big Role in a Small Town!
This project was made during Summer 2021 for the Digital Scholarship Summer Fellowship (DSSF21) at Gettysburg College’s Musselman Library.
The purpose of this project is twofold: to help embody and promote the presence of independent and small-town theaters in our communities, and to explore the Majestic Theater’s longstanding presence in the Gettysburg community. My interest in starting this project was based on passions for film I’ve had since I was a child, my ongoing studies as a Cinema Studies major, and a special love for film history and movie theaters overall.
Special Thanks
This project would not have been possible without the indispensable help of the DSSF team—R.C., Mary, John, and Amy—and especially my “librarian buddy” and mentor, Kevin, who helped with every aspect of its preparation, from the very beginning to the bittersweet end.
I also would like to extend a sincere thank-you to the administration team at the Majestic Theater—Kim, Jess, and Jeffrey—who completely embraced my requests for media and materials, as well as their help in providing information regarding the Majestic’s rich history and past.
Finally, I want to thank the incredibly supportive DSSF 2021 cohort—Theary, Ben, Shikurti, Nicole, and Ana—for making this a summer I will never forget.
